In 2002, a small group of scholars gathered to incorporate this new learned society in order to draw attention to the life's achievement of the highly acclaimed American playwright Horton Foote. Horton Foote Film Festival, Oct. 30-Nov. 1, 2008

The Horton Foote Center for the Study of Theater and Film at Carson-Newman College, in Jefferson City, TN, announces the first Horton Foote Film Festival, Oct. 30-Nov. 1, 2008. The program will include showings of film written by Mr. Foote, academic sessions on his work, the Slant Theatre’s presentation of The Horton Foote Project (a condensed version of his 9-play cycle The Orphans’ Home), and the formal dedication of the Foote Center. Call for Papers, Presentations at the 2008 Film Festival

If you would like to read a paper or join a panel discussion, please read the attached preliminary schedule and then submit an abstract (approximately 250 words) to one of the appropriate referees. If you have a traditional analysis of his life, works, or themes, email Dr. Laurin Porter of the English Department at the University of Texas, Arlington: lporter@uta.edu.
